About Us
Here in Saddleworth since 2005, Grandpa Greenes's have been producing high quality luxury Ice cream, using locally sourced milk and cream from Pedigree Friesian Cows, that graze on the beautiful rolling hills above Diggle.
Back in the 1920's Grandpa Greene made his ice cream, using a wooden churn in the back yard of his corner shop in Salford. Today at Grandpa Greene's we have taken his basic recipe and developed it into a luxury ice cream, handmade the old fashioned way.
We are passionate about our product and take pride in offering our customers a high quality Ice cream with excellent service and support.
Where we make it!
At Grandpa Greene's we have a purpose built ice cream kitchen, the heart of our business.
This is where the full cream milk and rich double cream are mixed with the sugar and pasteurised. At the next stage we add the fruit or flavours and pour the mix into the batch freezer. We then ripple through any remaining fruit or ingredients, like our toffee chunks, crumble, meringue or whatever the recipe calls for, fill the tubs and finally transfer to the freezers.
When we're making our Luxury Ice Cream we all work to HACCP procedures (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points). This means our Ice Cream is always made to exacting standards of hygiene, food safety and preperation and are independently inspected to confirm our standards.
We send monthly ice cream samples to Pathology Management Services to ensure the Ice Cream is always perfect for consumption.
